ANNE OF GREEN GABLES is a novel by the Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery. It is about a young orphaned girl who is sent to live in Prince Edward Island (a Canadian province), but it turns out to be a mistake as the adoptive parents wanted a boy and not a girl. However, she ends up staying with them anyway because they felt sorry for her and she has an extraordinary personality, and vivid imagination. The book chronicles her life and (mis)adventures. It is a very good read, and has several sequels in which Anne grows up, goes to college, finds love, etc. Watch the movie “Anne of Green Gables” starring Megan Follows (made in 1985). It’s entertaining and romantic, and worth it. I’ve been a fan for years.
