A. Ash is a term used to state the mineral content of foods. Ash may consist of salt, or any number of minerals. One of the components of ash, magnesium, is important in FUS. The ingredients commonly used to provide protein (soy meal, poultry and meat by-products and fish meal) in animal foods may contain high amounts of magnesium.
