What is better Aikido or karate?
I don’t feel either are comparable to one another. In reality you need to decide why you would like to learn the martial arts and base your decision on that. Karate is a hard linear system with focus on heavy striking and kicking with many hours spent on building a strong foundation in technique. The main purpose to study Karate is to master the skill set being taught. Karate is studied by many as a hobby and some as a way of life. Aikido is a circular, softer system of martial arts focused on using your opponents energy and attacks against them. It is very formal with lots of tradition and etiquettes that must adhered to. In Aikido the ultimate goal is be one with your energy and allow reaction to just happen instead of planning out your strategy. Your other goal is become at peace with yourself as well. Both systems have joint locks, throws and grappling techniques but the emphasis is different between the two. I suggest you try each one out on a one month membership to determine whi
