What is BPF?
BPF stands for bat performance factor.; It is similar to the COR rating assigned to slo-pitch s to indicate their liveliness.; A slo-pitch is mounted on a rotating axis that has virtually no friction to inhibit movement.; A slo-pitch is hot out of an ‘air’ cannon at exactly 60 MPH.; The ball hits the stationary bat.; The speed in which the bat moves as it is hit is recorded.; From the COR rating of the ball, and the MPH speed of the bast as it is hit by the ball, a formula is used to come up with the BPF rating for the bat being tested.; This provides a standard that will limit how fat a ball can come off the bat.
