What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)?
BJJ is a system of self-defense developed by Carlos Gracie Sr. in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the early-mid 1900s. It was developed from Japanese Jiu Jitsu as taught by Mitsuyo Maeda but Carlos made it better. BJJ uses a sytem of leverage, choke holds, and joint locks for its application. It has been tested and proven over and over again through real-life and No-Holds Barred (NHB) events such as the Ultimate Fighting Championship®.
