What Is Cause And Effect Of Ozone Depletion?
Ozone is three oxygen atoms (O3) combined into a single molecule. When we talk about the Ozone depleting we are referring to the amount of O3 in the stratosphere getting thinner. This happens because of a shortage of Oxygen O2 in the air. When harmful rays of electromagnetic radiation from the sun collide with the O2 in the atmosphere, it breaks the O2 apart and the two O atoms run out and combine with the first O2 it runs into creating O3. The O3 is not very stable and will break down when it collides with another O3 molecule creating three O2 molecules. This is the oxygen cycle that protects us from the sun. Since our air pollution is causing the natural amount of O2 to go down this causes the creation of O3 to go down. When the O3 is thin in the atmosphere this is an indication that the sun’s harmful radiation is getting through our protective atmosphere. It is because of the green house pollution that our Ozone has become damaged. When the Ozone depletes enough, nothing will stop t
