What is “cramming?
Cramming is when a company places unauthorized charges for optional telephone and non-telephone related services, such as charges for psychic hotline subscriptions, personal 800 telephone numbers or chatline membership fees on your telephone bill without your consent. Some of these charges may appear on your telephone bill in unclear terms, such as “enhanced services” or “activation.
If you are billed for services that other companies provide, such as information or entertainment services via 900 numbers, club memberships, voice mail, paging, or Internet services, but you did not order these services, you may have been crammed. Review your phone bill for charges you don’t recognize and call your local phone company right away to dispute the unauthorized charges.

Services of this type are part of your regulated local telephone service. Contact the company billing you for these unwanted services, and advise them to remove them and credit you back to the date the change was made. File a complaint against the company with the Arizona Corporation Commission.
