What is decal?
A. Decal is a process allowing the transfer of images over environments to be decorated, therefore providing the means to image reproduction which facilitates and standardizes serial decoration of porcelain and glassware pieces. We will be making use of decal produced with ceramic enamels to decorate ceramic pieces while we will be employing decal made with glassware enamels to decorate glassware pieces, the basic difference between the two products being the firing temperature required to accordingly vitrify them. Subsequently, the firing temperature of ceramic pieces is higher than that of glassware pieces. A faulty firing temperature can translate into fragile decorations while decal fired to an adequate temperature is permanent.
