What is Elective Home Education?
Elective Home Education is where parents or carers of a child decide to educate their child at home instead of sending them to a school. The parent or carer would have full responsibility for providing a full time education suitable to the childs age and ability and to any special educational needs they may have. If the reason for educating your child at home is because of a disagreement with your child’s school, you should try and resolve the issue by contacting the head teacher. If you feel that the issue still hasn’t been resolved you can contact the Local Authority’s complaints officer on 0115 9150800.
