What is English culture like?

I’m English (a Londoner to be exact) and have visited the US many times. I’d say the main differences in culture are: 1. The English are more reserved than Americans. We won’t strike up conversations with random people on the bus and we we won’t tell our life story to someone we’ve just met. 2. We are much more liberal than Americans. Race doesn’t seem to be as much of an issue here, we’re much more accepting of homosexuality and religion plays less of a factor in our lives. 3. I don’t mean to cause any offence, but I do find the English to be better educated than the Americans, especially when it comes to global affairs. Most English people could list the names of all of the G8 leaders; most Americans I’ve met don’t even know what the G8 is. 4. We’re more pessimistic than Americans. Americans always seem to be very enthusiastic about things; we seem to be a bit more cynical. As for London, the only place in America that I can compare it to is New York. It has a very fast pace of life
