In return for sponsorship, a shop will want its team to be representing the shop at all times. Wear the shirts, skate the shop boards and talk about the shop with other skaters to promote business. A sponsored skater’s job is to advertise. It is very important to have a positive attitude and promote goodwill within the skate community. Skate with your team on a regular basis and continue to get film for the team manager. Keep in contact with the team manager and help organize skate events. Do your research: Know about the company you are seeking sponsorship from. Who are they and what are they about? Do you think you will be a good fit to ride for this shop, manufacturer, or apparel company? How to get an advantage: Buy their stuff! It helps if you actually do some shopping at the shop. Meet the owner and employees. Let them know you are a supporter. Find out if the shop has a social media site like Facebook or Twitter. Make regular posts. It’s a good way for a shop to learn your name.
