What is Eye Stye?
Also called: Hordeolum A Hordeolum, also known as an Eye Stye, is an inflammation of the eyelash. It is commonly seen in children. The condition of Eye Stye is precipitated by a bacterial infection in the sebaceous or sweat gland. The causative pathogen is Staphyloccus aureous. Symptoms of Eye Stye include “Swelling of the eyelid, redness at the edge of the eyelid, pain over the affected area and tenderness”. The symptoms of an Eye Stye may resemble other conditions or medical problems. Always consult your child’s physician for a diagnosis. A Eye Stye is usually diagnosed based on a complete medical history and physical examination of your child.
