What is Gaia Capitalism?
Richard Branson coined the phrase Gaia Capitalism in Spring 2007, and we think it perfectly captures our spirit of working. Professor James Lovelock invented the Gaia theory over 40 years ago, which states that the Earth is like a single cell, and can heal itself if damaged. But there is a point reached that we have been warned about which could lead to severe climate change and the severe disruption of life on Earth. We set up the Andromeda Group, and Project Andromeda™ to be part of the solution to this risk. Google Inc and Virgin Group both have the words “do no harm” engraved into their constitution. Business and industry may have global reach, but it doesn’t follow that they are ‘bad’. The best businesses of all shapes and sizes are taking a holistic approach and setting an example of responsible capitalism, while still being entrepreneurial, visionary and profitable.
