What is Gender Socialization?
Gender socialization occurs through general exposure to any outside force. It is how we grow and learn what is acceptable for a male and female. At times it’s conscious, such as a boy child being given trucks and building tools, yet a girl given dolls only. More often than not its just coincidental, and while a parent may intend otherwise, these gender specific expectations are usually evident in schooling or other sources.
