Halogen lighting is a high pressure gas bulb with a rejuvenating filament that has proven to produce more natural white light (similar to sunlight) with an efficiency that provides more light per watt of energy consumed that a standard incandescent light bulb. The size of Halogen bulbs is also much smaller than standard bulbs. This allows the design of many lighting fixtures to be much smaller and still provide a significant quantity of light. Halogen lighting is most efficient when operating on 12 volt systems, requiring the use of a step down transformer.  more

Halogen lighting is a variant of incandescent lighting that uses a quartz or high-melting-point glass envelope filled with halogen gas rather than a glass bulb. Halogen lighting is more efficient and lasts longer than regular incandescent lighting, but the lamp burns at a much higher temperature, presenting a danger for some types of residential use. Halogen lighting is used in car headlights, watercraft lighting, outdoor floodlights, and home lighting, including computer lamps. Some halogen light bulbs are made to fit into standard home light sockets. In a standard incandescent lamp, a tungsten filament is encased in a glass bulb filled with a low-pressure inert gas such as argon or nitrogen. Electricity runs through the filament, causing it to burn white and give off light. Over time, the tungsten evaporates and condenses on the inside of the bulb, turning it black. Eventually, the tungsten filament weakens to the point that it breaks, and the light bulb no longer works. Halogen ...  more

Halogen lamps are a type of incandescent light bulb that are recessed into the ceiling. The bulb has two main components, the lamp and the control gear, and use an electronic or magnetic transformer. Halogens are more expensive than the traditional light bulb, but can last up to two thousand hours – twice as long as incandescent bulbs.  more

Solution When the tungsten filament is encased in halogen gas, it produces a crisp, long lasting, white light. Because tungsten halogen burns “hot,” it is enveloped in a quartz glass capsule. A Halogen bulb can be the capsule alone, or be a part of another bulb, as in the Halogen PAR and MR Lamp. Halogen bulbs come in many sizes and forms, and in both line voltage and low voltage versions. Halogen bulbs make ideal down and directional light sources in recessed lighting because they last longer than standard incandescent sources, have many beam pattern options, and render kitchen cabinet colors and wood tones well. Keep these hot–to–the touch Halogen bulbs away from small children and from heat sensitive objects and lacquered cabinet finishes. For cabinet interior and undercabinet lighting consider Xenon because watt for watt Xenon bulbs produce less heat than Halogen bulbs.  more
