Clearance Divers are a lot easier to join as they recruit direct from the street. I’m not sure what video you saw, as all of the one’s I’ve seen are pretty accurate. But it is very hard, it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done (apart from marrying, of course). Try training 22 hours a day for 3 continuous weeks in 40c heat, then say it’s not hard. I was pretty well accustomed to the conditions (coming from Queensland), but some of the NSW blokes found the heat intolerable. I’ve heard stories of people not being able to feel their feet or lift their arms completely for 3 months after wards. And to answer your question, the SASR is more “elite” than clearance divers. The SASR is easily in the top 3 SF units in the world (I would rank it number 2, and I have trained with SAS briefly and Delta Force) Also, I’m pretty sure that clearance divers do the same Special Forces Entry Test as the SASR, unless the Navy has other tests.
