What is Home Improvement Certification?
The CSLB, as mandated by the Legislature, established a certification program for home improvement contractors. “On and after July 1, 2000, a contractor may not engage in the business of home improvement or provide home improvement goods or services, as defined in B&P Code Section 7151, unless the contractor is certified as a home improvement contractor.” (B&P Code, Section 7150.
Home improvement certification comes under the department of consumers and regulatory affairs. The certification includes the certification of repair, remodeling, alteration, conversion, or modernization licensing from Government authorities. A contractor of custom home builders, luxury home builders can take the contract only after the certification from the Authority.
