What is Internet Evangelism Day?
This site presents the potential for web evangelism to Christians, and operates at two levels: • It encourages churches and other groups to create a web awareness focus day program in their services and other activities, on the designated annual worldwide Internet Evangelism Day on the last Sunday in April or at any other time to suit their programs. 2009 date is 26 April. • We also offer a permanent resource of web-pages, explaining the potential of web evangelism, the strategies it needs, and showcasing sites that are effective in online outreach. In other words, we are also saying that the 21st century is ‘the day’ of digital outreach.
Internet Evangelism Day is a global annual focus event. This year, it is 24 April. There’s nothing critical about the date though – a local IE Day can be held at any time of the year if that is more convenient. Intended audience IE Day is to envision and inform Christians about the vast potential of web evangelism. It is not directly evangelistic itself. Purpose of IE Day IE Day explains how the web differs from other communication mediums. It covers the different strategies that can be used for online outreach – both in terms of making effective websites, as well as personal witness options such as chat room evangelism. It showcases some effective websites, and includes testimonies of those who became Christians through online outreach. IE Day also focuses on ways that a church website can become an effective means of outreach to the community. Who initiated it?
