What is involved in undertaking conservation activities?
Conservation activities are hand-on and require a moderate level of fitness. Activities range from season to season but typically include seed collection or propagation, tree planting, clearing fire trails to protect biodiversity from large scale fires and hand removal of weed species to allow for native regeneration. You may be involved in walking short distances, bending up and down, using rakes or digging holes using a tree planter. The average time spent undertaking activities each day is 3 hours and there are typically a range of activities taking place to suit a diversity of capabilities. You will be shown how to conduct conservation activities, and how to use any tools and equipment safely before you start each project. There will always be a program leader to assist you.
