What is ISO VG classification for Lubricants?

0

International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), viscosity grade system is used to classify Industrial Oil viscosity. The ISO viscosity grade (ISO VG) system uses the kinematic viscosity at 40 C to classify lubricants. ISO VG classification consists of a series of 20 different viscosity families, from 2 to 3200, with each one defined by a specific number. The number indicates the kinematic viscosity at 40 C. It should be noted that Cutting Oils and some other limited specialised grades are not classified under the ISO system because in order to define the grade for these applications, other properties are considered of greater importance than the oil viscosity.
