What is it that makes diseases caused by viruses and bacteria hard to treat?

There are a lot of factors to be considered here. The nature of some bacterial and viral diseases require treatments that are either not yet attainable by modern technology or not yet discovered by scientists today. These diseases being viral and bacterial in origin continue to develop into more complex forms which make them resistant to existing therapeutic regimens. Patient noncompliance to medication whether due to forgetfulness or expensive pricing is also one factor to look at, though sometimes not given much attention. The continuing battle of medical professionals against evolving diseases especially of microbial origin is still a challenge up to today.
