In general Christianity, the “Lamb’s Blood” is a reference to a blood sacrifice in atonement for sin. It dates to the OT and Judaism, where a sin offering of a lamb (perfect, unblemished) was required for atonement. The lamb’s blood was spread on Hebrew doorposts during the 10th and final plague of Egypt (mass slaughter of the first born) so the Angel of Death would pass by and leave the household untouched. In Christianity, Yeshua is the ultimate lamb – the perfect blood sacrifice in atonement for sin. Thus, His blood is often called “the blood of the lamb”, to which there is even a joyfully sung (yet morbid) hymn. This sacrifice is believed to cover the sins of all believers, who no longer have to offer blood sacrifices individually for their sin.
