What is Man-made “EnviroReef ” rock?
Man-made EnviroReef rock is hand made by Coral Plantations. It is of similar in weight (often slightly lighter by volume) to real live rock and is “all” very porous. It is made with natural calcium based products such as shells and coral sand plus calcareous binders and is completely safe for marine aquariums after proper curing. It can be used as base rock in your tank to form a proper reef look without the cost associated with using live rock, or it can be used entirely if you use both dry EnviroReef rock and activated EnviroReef rock that has been kept in our live rock tanks to allow the bacteria and coralline algae to colonize it. As most of the EnviroReef rock is sold dry it can be shipped/trucked all over the country at far less cost than the airfreight costs of live rock. This rock is ocean-water cured for many weeks before being dried and sold; consequently it is safe to put into any marine reef tank/aquarium.
