What is marine genomics?
The study of all of the nucleotide sequences, including structural genes, regulatory sequences, and noncoding DNA segments, in the chromosomes of marine organism. The branch of genetics that studies marine organisms in terms of their genomes (their full DNA sequences). A branch of marine biotechnology concerned with applying the techniques of genetics and molecular biology to the genetic mapping and DNA sequencing of sets of genes or the complete genomes of selected organisms using high-speed methods, with organizing the results in databases, and with applications of the data (as in medicine or biology) -compare proteomics .
