Although most Sears rebates now do not require this step, many manufactures may still require you to send one in. The UPC barcode is a barcode found on the box or the product packaging, not on your rebate receipt. It is a row of black vertical lines. Beneath the lines there is a single digit number out to the left and a single digit number out to the right. In the middle there is a series of numbers. This barcode is also the manufacturer's proof of purchase. If requested to include, this means you need to remove and send the universal product bar code from the packaging. This will require you to cut the box around the UPC code. Doing so may mean that your product is no longer accepted if you attempt to return the product. When an original is required, a photocopy will not be sufficient to satisfy the requirement of the rebate offer. more

This means you need to remove and send the universal product bar code from the packaging. Some packaging may have several different looking bar codes. If you are unsure which one is the UPC, please ask someone at the store where you purchased the product or call the customer service number on your rebate form. more
