The content area is the specialization area for secondary education teachers (the area that the student plans to teach, i.e. Math, History, English, Spanish etc.). The ADE requires that the candidate pass a state exam (AEPA) in order to teach a particular subject area. Most school districts prefer that, in addition to the state exam, students earn or have earned at least 24 hours in the area they intend to teach. more
