Medicaid will pay for long term care whether within your own home or in a nursing home, if you have problems with daily living activities. There are strict eligibility requirements, and the benefits are only available to those with extremely limited financial resources. In 2009, the resource limit (which includes assets of all kinds including checking, savings accounts, C.D’s and IRA’s) for individuals is $13,800 and $20,100 for couples.
