What is Metric System of units?

0

The metric system is the system of measurement used by the majority (if not all) of countries outside the United States. It is a much simpler method than the English system (used inside the US) because to convert between smaller and larger units in the metric system, one needs only to move the decimal point. In the English system, one must memorize how many cups are in a gallon, feet in an inch, etc. With metric, the only thing one must memorize is in which order the prefixes go. I have included two links that show the system. The first link shows the prefixes of the metric system and what they mean numerically. The second link gives many charts showing conversion factors between the English and metric systems. http://library.thinkquest.org/5427/metchart.html http://lakewatch.ifas.ufl.edu/…/…05
