WHAT IS MULTI-SPECTRAL IMAGERY USED FOR?
Multispectral Imagery Applications Camouflage, Concealment, and Deception (CC&D) Detection -CC&D is accomplished using the NIR and SWIR -Objects of military significance may be camouflaged by netting, concealed by live or cut vegetation, or painted -Conditions of vegetation stress are used to detect the possible use of vegetation to conceal objects. Change Detection -Process of using two or more images, acquired at different times, to create a change image that indicated changes in land cover. -Uses reflectance data and automated techniques to detect change. -Used to aid broad area search, installation monitoring, road, railroad and bridge construction, and changes in land cover. Image Maps -Exploits the broad area coverage capabilities of MSI to provide current image map data which graphically depicts the areas of interest. -Most useful when topographic maps are not available, or when used as a supplement to older maps.
