Multidetector CT (computed tomography) is a very rapid advanced x-ray system that can take multiple pictures of moving objects, i.e., the heart, in just a few seconds. Digital pictures are then created in .75 millimeter slices, allowing doctors to see a cross-sectional view of the body.
