It is a major new release of the ONIX for Books product information format for book publishers and other players in the book supply chain. It is the first major release since 2001 (when ONIX for Books 2.0 was released), and is the first release in which digital products have been treated as a “core” element in ONIX coverage. It is the first release for eight years which is not backwards-compatible with previous releases.
