What is Poly cystic Ovary Disease?
It is a common health problem; many teenage girls and woman are facing nowadays. It affects the menstrual cycle, fertility, blood vessels, heart and insulin production. It is hormonal imbalance in girls or woman. Ovaries produce three types of hormones such as estrogen, progesterone and androgen. These hormones are highly responsible for menstrual cycle and ovulation. In PCOS (Poly cystic Ovary Syndrome), Ovaries produce higher amount of androgen than usual. When our body produces more androgen, they result in interfering with the egg development and release. Some of those eggs develop into cysts, which are sacs with liquids. The cyst builds up and enlarges in ovaries rather than releasing. Some studies show that PCOS may be because of insulin production, which makes ovaries release extra male hormones called androgen. Many of them are hereditary also.
