Traditional liposuction removes fat by forcefully breaking it up with a cannula before the evacuation phase. A Power-assisted machine vibrates back and forth and aids in the removal of the fat with less force. Dr. Trott has found that by using this newer technology she is able to remove more fat in less time and with less blood loss. In addition, because she is not working so hard to "get the fat out" she can concentrate on the more artistic sculpting and shaping aspects of the procedure.

Power assisted liposuction is a procedure that uses a power cannula to facilitate movement in the tissue, whereas the surgeon manually manipulates the cannula in more traditional liposuction procedures.
