What is SALTS?
With SALTS, the user can electronically submit support requests including (but not limited to); APL/AEL parts, technical manuals, training, warranty information, technical assistance, technical documentation, shipping information, feedback reports, payroll data from disbursing, e-mail from the crew, etc. These can be submitted using the Readiness Support System (RSS) link. RSS will automatically pass the above support requests to the appropriate Support Provider based on information loaded to the Support Provider Matrix. WinSALTS is the client/server application used to “prepare” files for transmission, from various sources within your command (i.e., requisitions from the SNAP system, payroll data from disbursing, or e-mail from the crew) to the SALTS project at NAVICP, Philadelphia. WinSALTS Central then routes the information to its final destination, based on the file suffix (which is assigned by the WinSALTS Client), or by the addresses provided (for e-mail and messages).
