What is Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology?
A. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology takes information and runs it through a set of steps that encrypt the message. This way, information cannot be read while it is being transferred over the internet. When information is received by the intended recipient, SSL decrypts the message, and checks whether it came from the correct sender and then verifies that it has not been tampered. SSL makes use of Digital Certificates to authenticate one or both parties of an Internet transaction.
