What is Shabbat and how will it impact my event at Spertus?
Shabbat is an important weekly Jewish observance. For six days of the week our focus is work, but the seventh day—the Sabbath—is a day of rest and spiritual regeneration. Many Jews celebrate this ritual from sundown on Friday evening until the appearance of three stars in the sky on Saturday night, approximately 40 minutes after sunset. The Spertus facility closes at 3 pm on Friday afternoon in preparation, and can be reopened for Saturday evening events after the Sabbath ends.
