What is Sherry furniture made from?
We choose materials we feel achieve the best possible combination of good looks and durability. We use solid hardwoods for chairs and table bases but prefer wood-veneered wood composite boards and MDF for our cabinets and chests. Today’s top-quality composite materials we feel are preferable in many ways to solid timber. They react better to central heating; they are impervious to wood beetle attack; they are very strong and stable over a long period and, when veneered with hand-matched quality veneers they create the warmth and elegance of solid wood but with the modern pluses of extra strength and affordable prices. All other components, such as drawer runners and handles are sourced for quality from all over the world. Glass doors are toughened bot BS7979 safety standards and our upholstery fillings are flame retardant and labelled to meet current fire regulations.
