What is Simon Fraser University known for?
Hi and thanks for your interest in Simon Fraser University in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. First off it’s important to know that your decision about which BC university to attend isn’t a question of “good” or “bad”, but rather “good fit” or “better fit”. As the top-rated comprehensive university in Canada in this year’s Maclean’s magazine ranking, SFU boasts many outstanding programs in the arts and sciences. It would help to know which area of study you’re most interested in, but we can tell you that a recent winner of SFU’s top entrance scholarship–a $32,000 eight-semester prize–passed up scholarships at Queen’s and McGill to study molecular biology and biochemistry at SFU. So to answer your question–yes, you can safely assume SFU is a “good school for a science major.” But we’ve also got some brand new programs–in the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology, the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of the Environment–that you might also want to investigate.
