What is Smile Analysis & Design?

Although each of our smiles is unique and must be treated that way, there are many underlying principles that can make a smile great. For example, a person that thinks their front teeth are too big may not be seeing that their teeth are simply too short for their width. By lengthening the tooth to achieve an ideal length to width ratio of 75-80% the person then can have a great smile. Another example is that some smiles only really show the front 4-6 teeth. By placing veneers on some of the side and/or back teeth we can widen the patient’s arch form to give a wider and fuller smile. Lastly, we may get people into our office who have short front teeth. This is often caused by the amount of gingival tissue (gums) on the front teeth. By simply removing the tissue with a laser and giving a more symmetrical appearance, we can lengthen the teeth.
