Well, sound insulation reduces operating noise, especially during filling and draining. Generally, the amount of insulation and sound deadening features increase according to the price of the dishwasher. Most insulation materials consist of foam, fiberglass, felt, rubber and most often, plastic wrapped insulation. Any or all of these items can be found on the sides, top, back and the bottom of your dishwasher. If you have ever removed the lower kick panel you might have found what looks like regular insulation.....guess what? It is and the more money you spend, the quieter your dishwasher will be. If your dishwasher is noisy try adding more insulation in the area where the motor is. Glue it right on the lower panel so when you replace the lower kick panel the insulation will quiet the pump/motor area. What does the Rinse-Aid dispenser do? Rinse-aid chemicals prevent water spots and filming on glassware, dishes and utensils. The automatic dispenser adds rinse aids to the final rinse. ...  more
