What is Sweet Itch can anyone help?

Sweet Itch is a medical condition in equines caused by an allergic response to the bites of Culicoides midges, commonly known as “no-see-ums”. It is also found in Canada, Australia, the US and many other parts of the world” That tells you basically WHAT it is but NOT how to get rid of it. Here in the US I learned how in 1972 and this is what I learned: They also call it “sarcoptic mange”, “Spanish Itch”, “sweet itch”, lice etc. Well if you’re willing to try anything, here’s a decades old remedy for it… Motor oil (New or used). Simply paint your horse/pony with it and it will kill the fungus/bugs. Leave it on at least a month and within 2 weeks of painting it on, you’ll see new hair growing in hairless spots.
