What is Synaesthesia in laymans terms?
Synaesthesia is when one of your sensory pathways (ei. sight, sound, touch, smell, or taste) responds to a stimulus from another pathway. For example, you receive the external stimulus of music via your auditory pathways, yet in response your brain “sees” a visual representation of that music. This kind of crossover gives the impression of “seeing” sounds, “tasting” colors, “hearing” sights, etc.
