What is tempered glass in replacement windows and do I need it?
Tempered glass is said to be three times harder to break than standard double pane glass. All Patio doors now have tempered glass standard. You only need tempered glass where code says you have to have it. It’s required in a shower, or tub. It’s required Next to a door or over a door. It’s required if the window is within eighteen inches from the floor. Some companies might try to up sell this for your entire home. Keep in mind the average cost is one hundred dollars extra per window. It would be nice for the extra security, but you’re not required to do it.
