What is the Akai EWI USB?
The Akai EWI USB is the latest EWI model from Akai released in October 2008. This EWI model is a USB controller with a USB output port on it. There is no MIDI port on this model though MIDI OUT data could be generated if you connect the EWI USB to a computer and also connect a MIDI interface to the computer. The Akai EWI USB is bundled with the Aria wind controller softsynth for PC and Mac. You can connect the EWI USB to your PC or Mac and enjoy expressive breath controller sounds from this Aria softsynth. You can also control other softsynths with the EWI USB. Of course, the EWI USB can still be used with external MIDI synths if you connect a MIDI interface to your PC / Mac.
