The Alberta Centennial Education Savings Plan Grant (ACES) is provided by the Alberta government for any child born to or adopted by residents of Alberta in 2005 or later. The grant starts with a one-time initial contribution of $500 to an eligible child’s RESP. The government provides three subsequent grants of $100 to an eligible child’s RESP for children attending school in Alberta at ages 8, 11 and 14. To receive the subsequent grants, a minimum matching contribution of $100 must be made to an RESP in the year prior. In total, $800 in grant money is available per eligible child.
