What is the average salary of a CAD Drafter, or something related to CAD?

Salaries vary depending where you live. Where I’m from, starting salary is about $20,000.00+ with 2 years of training. With a 4 year degree, starting salary is about $30,000.00+. There’s always raises and other benefits to go along with that. Two years of training could be from a community college or a CAD training course. Four year degree is usually interior designers right out of a university or architects who are not yet state registered. Interior designers and architects don’t usually stay in the CAD field very long… they move on to better jobs. They start off with CAD to get their feet wet and for the practice. For people who want to stay in the CAD field only, there’s a variety of jobs. They can draw buildings, structures, mechanical parts, transportation, furniture and light fixtures, piping, the list is endless. Companies that work with cities, hospitals, and schools never seem to run out of work.
