Perki’s pretty much nailed it. I use mostly muslin (needs ironing with a garment steamer before use if I want it wrinkle free). Occasionally use vinyl & have used paper. What you need to remember with vinyl & paper is that if you intend to dismantle the backdrop & store the rolls then they have to be stored upright, so you need the height. If you store them lying on the floor, the weight of them will cause compression & you end up with a regular crease across them when you unroll again. Also consider using a 18% grey – you can light it 1-2 stops over to get white, 3 stops under & its black plus its easy to gel any colour.
