What is the best cat food for fussy cats?

The best food for fussy cats is good food – which is mainly NOT that sold in tins, pouches, boxes and bags labelled cat food. Our mogs have been both fussy, and also often sick after eating, but the VET couldn’t find anything wrong. Solution:- buy two cheap chicken in the supermarket. Simmer them in a big pan of water on the stove for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. When the flesh is soft enough to pull off the bone, let it cool out of the water, bone it, and use it for the moggies. We find two chickens is plenty for two average cats for a week. We keep about half in the fridge and freeze the rest in small containers. Result: two very happy cats, never fussy, good quality home-cooked food that costs less than cat food. Bonus: cook the chickens a bit more carefully , with onions, carrots, herbs etc, and you get a brilliant stock for you to cook with, and the mixture smells wonderful while its cooking. Any decent recipe book will have the formula for the stock. Then you can make superb sauces and soup

The problem with fussy cats is that they are all fussy in their own special way. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stood in front of the cat food in the store with two or three other people, each of us trying to figure out what our individual cat will eat. I’ve had 3 different cats. All were picky. And all were picky in their own unique way. (My current cat is a former barn cat that will not eat anything but dry food. I’ve tried everything, he’s not changing).

I know cats can be very fussy – I have had two cats, one remaining. At the same time I refuse to give into their fussiness. If they’re really hungry – like in the wild – they would eat anything. I know this from one of my cats who scavenged in the area, even though he was fed good and ample food. I think you need to “play” with the food, try different things, i.e. different brands, or try wet/dry food etc, starting by mixing it so as not to upset their digestive system too much, and see how they fare or like it. I really don’t think you should be pushed into buying what is being advertised. Just try the usual cat foods, and you could even go into cooking fresh/frozen fish if this solves the problem – although I think this is really giving in to them, as they don’t really need this anyway.

My cat was VERY fussy about her food and I gave her Special Kitty dry cat food and she LOVES it! It is sold at Walmart and Petsmart stores. It comes in a green bag for the original! I hope I could help! Good luck!
