What is the best common way to train my japanese spitz dog?
There’s only 1 best way to train any dog. Start with positive reinforcement to teach behaviors and proof vital behaviors with compulsion (corrections). It’s WRONG to correct a dog for not sitting if it doesn’t know what sit means. Anybody with sense would have to agree. So how do you teach the behavior? With high value treat rewards! Bits of minced steak (very small pieces), liver, hotdogs even (remember, small pieces, the size of a pea). Once the dog has learned what a command means you can start correcting the dog for disobeying. The dog must learn that he must obey even if he doesn’t want to, even if he’s tired, even if he’s not hungry, even if there’s a cat across the street calling his name!
