With a 60-year history, the Culinary Institute of America is commonly regarded as the best culinary school in the United States. Located in Hyde Park, New York, and St. Helen, California, the Culinary Institute offers accelerated programs in culinary arts and wine and beverage certificate. In addition, it also offers ProChef certification in collaboration with the American Culinary Federation to recognize competent chefs in the industry.
For potential students who already have six-month kitchen experience, the Institute can provide an in-depth training program for further professional development. This program includes courses in various aspects, such as baking and pastry, culinary foundation, world cuisine, and food management.
In addition to professional training, the Culinary Institute of America also provides academic programs which will lead to a Bachelor of Professional Studies or an Associate in Occupational Studies degree. During the program, students will participate in a 18-month externship in renowned restaurants nationwide. This allows students to gain firsthand knowledge and experience in culinary. Graduates of the Institute can pursue careers as chefs, caterers, corporate managers, culinary educators, food stylists, or product development specialists. To help defray the tuition fee, the Institute offers merit-based aids and scholarships, in addition to federal loan and grant. Students are also encouraged to explore external scholarship opportunities on their own.
